Blog Post #8: Summary / Analysis

The general argument made by the author is that children can play sports at a very high level of competition in his work, "The Short Game" the young golfers have to compete in a nationwide tournament that all their work leads up to. He displays how the children are willing to work out everyday to perform at a better level every time they step on the course, when he selected such a widespread choice of children it shows that not only one area of the world have kids who are determined to do something great and willing to give up their childhood. In the sports documentary Josh Greendaum, suggest that children have to give up a lot and risk to not have a normal childhood to be great at golfing. In conclusion, Greendaum's beliefs that children can play at a high level of competition and still remain kids.
In my view Greendaum is right because he shows how well the children perform, but also he inserts montages of the children running around and playing with the children like normal kids. More specifically I think the author shows that the kids can have negative effects from playing golf, for example one of the children has to go to a psychiatrist for her attitude problems because golf makes her so stressed out. Therefore, I strongly agree with Josh Greendaum's belief that is displayed throughout his works.
